Application Process

HMS MEDscience Summer Programs Applications are open January 1, 2024 to March 25, 2024. CLICK HERE to apply.

HMS MEDscience Summer Programs are open to high school students, in grades 9-12 at the time of application. There are grade and age exceptions with the MEDscienceLAB, MEDscienceLAB Forensics, and Moonshot Visionaries programs. Please see program webpages for more information.

Students must complete the HMS MEDscience Summer Programs application through our online system. The application contains 2 parts, the Student Application and the Teacher Assessment.

Step 1: Complete the MEDscience Summer Programs application by March 25. The application requires student information, programs and sessions selection, essay questions, parental consents, and a teacher’s name and email for the Teacher Assessment. A Teacher Assessment Form is sent automatically to your teacher to complete.

Step 2: Follow up with your teacher that they received the Teacher Assessment Form. Teacher Assessment deadline is March 25.

Step 3: Check to see if everything is complete. Login to your application. View the Application Status Form to check if your application and the Teacher Assessment have been received.

a) If your application has not been received, review all forms to be sure they are complete. Remember to CLICK HERE TO SAVE on each form. Be sure to CLICK HERE TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION on the Submit Your Application Form.

b) If the Teacher Assessment has not been received, follow up with your teacher.

Step 4: Decision notifications will be emailed on April 15, 2024.

Program Fees

2024 HMS MEDscience Summer Programs fees are:

MEDscience@HMS - $2650  (Holiday 4-day program fee is $2100)
MEDscienceLAB - $2650
MEDscienceLAB Forensics - $2650
Moonshot Foundations - $2650
Moonshot Visionaries - $5500
MEDscience@HMS Dental - $2650

HMS MEDscience Summer Programs are one-week, day-long programs.

HMS MEDscience Moonshot Visionaries Summer Program is a 2-week day-long program.

Scrubs and all program materials are included in the program fee.

Lunch and snacks are included in the program fee.

Scholarships

The HMS MEDscience Program is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships to be awarded to eligible students. These scholarships range from partial to full scholarships and award amounts are determined by many variables, including family finances and availability of funds. Scholarships are awarded to students who have been accepted into the program and have submitted a Scholarship Application. Not all scholarship applicants may be eligible for or receive a scholarship. 

Students are notified of their scholarship decision at the same time as their admission decision on April 15, 2024.

What are the eligibility requirements for a scholarship?

Greater Boston Area Resident - preference is given to residents of Norfolk, Suffolk, Plymouth, Middlesex, Essex counties

Have financial need based on household income and other need-based factors

Must complete the HMS MEDscience Summer Programs application and the scholarship application on time. Application essays, teacher assessment and the scholarship essay portion will be strongly considered.

In the essay portion of the scholarship application, you may include any additional information to be considered. We will consider significant changes in circumstances not reflected in the scholarship application (such as loss of a job or income, divorce or separation, and significant medical bills).

Some information on the scholarship application will come from your parent(s) federal tax return(s). Tax returns are only required to be submitted (via secure attachment) if a verification request is sent to the student. Please DO NOT SEND tax returns and other confidential or sensitive information via email. Email is not secure.

How do I apply?

The scholarship application may be accessed in the HMS MEDscience Summer Programs application. The deadline for applications is March 25, 2024. Students are notified of their scholarship decision at the same time as their admission decision on April 15, 2024.
