HMS MEDscienceLAB/
MEDscienceLAB Forensics
Lead Intern

Summer Internship Application

Applications Close January 31, 2024

Dear Applicant,

We are delighted to hear of your interest in interning at MEDscience this summer! We rely heavily upon our wonderful interns in order to provide a richly engaging program for our high school students. If you have not done so already, please explore our WEBSITE to learn more about our mission as well as our semester and summer programs.

Here is a brief description of the Lead Intern position. We hope this will help you determine if the opportunity will be a good fit:

The optimal candidate is either a student currently enrolled in an undergraduate program or a working professional with a demonstrated interest in fields of healthcare, science or education, and strongly values diversity, equity, and inclusion. Prior experience in a lab is preferred. The candidate should be organized, enthusiastic, and willing to learn. Our intern’s primary role is to be part mentor for the students and part teaching assistant for the staff. We count on our lead intern to act as a liaison between students, interns and staff and allow for the seamless transition between activities throughout our camp day. In the mentor role, we expect our intern to develop and lead team building activities to encourage group comradery. Additionally, we expect interns to mingle with students throughout the day and orient and lead onboarding junior and senior interns throughout the summer. On the teaching side, our staff will need your assistance in playing patient and doctor roles throughout case simulations, preparing and breaking down classrooms, and helping with lab prep. The lead intern position is a paid position, either through your university, a scholarship, or through HMS MEDscience. Interns need to be available for all nine weeks from 8:15 am to 4:00 pm each day. The internship will take place at our simulation rooms and laboratory space which are located in Harvard Medical School’s Armenise building.
